The International Institute of New England (IINE) is a non-profit organization that provides humanitarian relief, education, skills training, job placement, family reunification and pathways to citizenship for 2,000 immigrants and refugees each year. We work in Boston and Lowell, Massachusetts, and Manchester, New Hampshire.
IINE is the oldest and second largest resettlement agency in the region and has the largest Central American family reunification program in Greater Boston. More than 500 refugees and immigrants enroll in our education programs annually, and each year we connect hundreds of new Americans to jobs in New England companies.

Responsibilities- Perform student outreach and schedule individual advising appointments
- Meet with students to offer advising time and follow through with needed referrals or correspondence to address student issues
- Case note all advising sessions in Apricot and SharePoint.
- Plan, coordinate, and facilitate workshops, presentations, and field trips to support ESOL students' academic, personal, and career development.
- Conduct ESOL standardized assessments.
- Provide administrative support to the Education Team with student enrollment and registration.
- Provide new student orientation and digital literacy instruction.
- Provide Technology support and Prepare laptop loaner agreements as needed and monitor tracking system
- Collect and maintain forms and enter data.
- Contribute to the overall retention of students in assigned classes and workshops
- Work collaboratively with instructors
- Prepare a monthly ESOL program newsletter in Canva
- Communicate effectively with clients and staff using various means including email, Microsoft Teams, text messages, Whats App, etc.
- Coordinate needed interpretation for proper communication with students
- Attend regularly scheduled program meetings and periodic professional training sessions
- Supervise interns and meet with them on a weekly basis.
- Perform all other duties assigned by supervisor.
- Outstanding communication skills including written, verbal, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated organizational and logistical experience.
- Ability to research and find appropriate programs for clients for continuing education, training, etc.
- High level of discretion and professionalism in dealing with confidential client information
- Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required.
- Experience using Zoom or other remote platforms.
- Interest in international, refugee, and asylee issues.
- Extremely well organized, detail oriented, flexible, and able to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Bilingual candidates are encouraged to apply.
- BA in Education or related field required.
- Minimum one year of experience advising or mentoring students previously.
- Requires occasional evening work.
- Exposure to bright, overhead office lighting, use of office technology such as laptops, printers, mail machines and other in-office equipment.
- Frequent interactions with students and colleagues.
- Occasional lifting, pushing, and pulling materials (boxes, equipment) of 50 pounds or more.
- Continuous sitting (or standing) at a desk for long periods of time.
- Occasional driving to and from IINE offices as needed.
- Frequent bending, reaching overhead, and reaching at or below shoulder level required
