General

Summary:

The Coordinator of Academic Success Programs leads a team of professional and peer staff delivering supplemental learning services across the college's academic support programs within the Student Affairs Division, helping a diverse student body achieve academic success. Reporting to the Director of Academic Support Programs, the Coordinator supervises staff providing peer tutoring, peer mentoring, Supplemental Instruction, Ramp-Up, and Co-Requisite programs.

The Coordinator works closely with the Mathematics Department to embed support within the Ramp-Up and Co-Requisite programs, and collaborates extensively with academic, professional, and administrative colleagues across the college and in professional associations, representing the college in a positive manner.

The Coordinator of Academic Success Programs coordinates, facilitates, and supports supplemental learning programs designed to help students attain academic success.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Program Planning & Development:

• Contribute to the vision and direction of all academic support programs, including establishing, implementing, and evaluating long-term goals.
• Develop and support departmental and college-wide programs to promote student success.
• Support the achievement of MCC Student Learning Outcomes through multiple programs and outreach initiatives.
• Collaborate with academic departments and divisions to provide the academic support that best fits their needs.
• Research best practices for learning assistance, determine the best fit for MCC students, and adopt those best suited to the college's needs.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of academic support programs and initiate programmatic modifications as needed.
• Support the Director in assessing student success initiatives and program effectiveness through annual research, benchmarking, reports, and the program review process.

Training, Development, and Staff:

• Participate in the hiring, training, supervision, and evaluation of ACE Student Leaders in accordance with College Reading Learning Association (CRLA) and International Center for Supplemental Instruction (ICSI) accreditation requirements.
• Provide ongoing support, mentoring, and coaching to student leaders to ensure their professional development.
• Support the Director in maintaining CRLA and ICSI accreditation requirements.
• Establish mentor cohorts and provide the professional development needed to effectively support this role.
• Coordinate, facilitate, and support the ACE tutoring, Ramp-Up, Co-Requisite, and Supplemental Instruction programs.
• Develop and implement training workshops designed to address the fundamental needs of ACE Student Leaders.
• Collaborate with STEM faculty to develop training workshops.

Scheduling:

• Coordinate student-centered tutoring schedules for peer tutors, SI courses, Ramp-Up, and Co-Requisites across two campuses and online, supporting day, evening, weekend, and online students.
• Collaborate with academic departments to coordinate the implementation of study sessions and tutoring schedules.
• Support the Director in overseeing the day-to-day functioning of academic support programs, including SI, Ramp-Up, and Co-Requisites, serving as a resource for students, faculty, and student leaders.

Budget and Fiscal Management:

• Recommend resources needed to carry out supplemental learning programs.
• Participate in exploring new initiatives.

Service:

• Participate in the operation of college-wide supplemental learning programs.
• Support the development, implementation, and review of the CRLA peer tutor training process and the ICSI accreditation process.
