Principal Applications Engineer
This role focuses on testing, design, and support of MACOM’s semiconductor products for data center, telecommunications, industrial, and defense applications.
- Test on an Agilent PNA or PNA-X using a probe station; measure with load pull systems.
- Probe devices up to 120 GHz.
- Design and build supporting hardware such as evaluation boards, reference designs, and application circuits.
- Update data sheets with application-related information.
- Contribute to design reviews and other technical meetings.
- Set up equipment and measuring devices in the lab.
- Create technical presentations, data packages, and other collateral to aid customers.
- Participate heavily in customer calls, instilling trust and confidence, and discuss technical issues.
- Prepare and present technical analysis/data to management in response to customer inquiries.
- Mentor colleagues.
- Collaborate with the design team for new product releases.
- Collaborate with the quality team to support any customer issues.
Travel required up to 25% for internal meetings and client sites.
Job Requirements- Requires a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field and seven (7) years of engineering experience in the semiconductor field.
- Must have at least five (5) years of experience with:
- RF, microwave, and millimeter-wave (MMW) products.
- Waveguide test components.
- Noise parameter extraction.
- Pulsed IV measurements.
- At least one of the following EDA tools:
Keysight ADS, Keysight EMPro, HFSS, AWR.
- Alternatively, a master’s degree plus five (5) years of electrical engineering experience in the semiconductor field may be accepted in lieu of the bachelor’s plus seven (7). Travel required up to 25% for internal meetings and client sites.
Salary Range: $171,787 – $198,500. Actual salary offered will depend on factors such as location, experience, education, and specific skills.
