Controls Specialist - Night Shift - St. Joseph DAP

Position Overview

This position is at the St. Joseph DAP.

• Work under minimal supervision to continuously improve plant processes and equipment.
• Design and implement PLC program changes, and produce mechanical and electrical documentation.
• Apply Six Sigma methodologies to reduce variation, improve uptime, and lower maintenance costs.
• Utilize problem‑solving techniques such as Pareto analysis, cause and effect analysis, multi‑variable analysis, FMEA, and DOE to develop solutions.
• Initiate and lead plant teams for process improvement projects.
• Source vendors, define scopes of work, and manage contract deliverables when external engineering services are used.
• Provide technical support for plant operations, including maintenance support, capital project implementation, and Six Sigma project rollout.
• Serve as the liaison between plant and Division Engineering personnel, communicating engineering needs, process changes, and project reporting.
• Monitor processes, new equipment, and tools to ensure performance meets specifications.
• Implement capital and non‑capital projects in collaboration with plant quality control and manufacturing personnel.
• Review new and modified specifications, ensuring proper content and scheduling of introductions into the manufacturing system.
• Identify causes of recurring downtime and develop strategies for elimination.
• Assist with ensuring tools, equipment, and processes comply with OSHA and EPA standards.
• Perform other duties as required.

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Manufacturing preferred).
• 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing‑related position.
• Understanding of Project/Program Management Methodologies.
• Strong communication skills with the ability to engage cross‑functional teams through all media.
• Working knowledge of PLC programming and ladder logic required.
• Proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, and related programs.
• Preferred:
  Experience in robotics programming, troubleshooting, and diagnostics (Fanuc/Denso).
• Preferred:
  AutoCAD or Solid Works experience.
