The Senior Manager of Tax & Partner Compensation is responsible for the Firm’s tax operations to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of tax services to the Firm and its partners.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

“Essential functions” are primarily job duties that incumbents must be able to perform unassisted or with some reasonable accommodation made by the employer.

  • Reviews various local, state and federal tax returns prepared by the Firm’s accountants, including partnership returns and K-1s.
  • Reviews tax implication calculations and develops strategies for minimizing liability.
  • Stays current on federal, state, and local tax legislation to ensure compliance.
  • Tracks and maintains records on the status of all tax returns to ensure timely filings and compliance with domestic tax laws.
  • Examines, analyzes, and interprets accounting and financial records to prepare reports and provide recommendations.
  • Monitors internal and external deadlines related to tax elections.
  • Responds to partners’ questions and provides tax advice as requested.
  • Works closely with the payroll team to ensure partner compensation is processed timely and accurately.
  • Manages Equity Partner compensation process and models. This includes all potential lateral or growth prospects.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Tax, Accounting, Finance or related field. CPA a plus.
  • 6-8 years of relevant experience in a fast-paced financial services or professional services firm. Law firm experience is highly desired.
  • Excellent analytical skills. Highly detail oriented and organized.
  • Strong computer skills and advanced knowledge of Excel. Must be able to handle large datasets, perform advanced calculations, and use tools like Pivot Tables.
  • Ability to manage and drive multiple processes and deliverables at once in a dynamic environment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Strong presence and ability to interact with all levels of management and partners. Deep expertise in distilling financial concepts into easy-to-understand messages.
  • Must have a strong understanding of partnership, payroll and personal income taxes.
  • Previous experience working in an organization with a multi-state payroll and various state & federal tax implications.
  • Experience using various payroll systems (UKG, ADP Workforce Now, Paylocity, Paycor etc.).
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Work may require more than 40 hours per week work to perform the essential duties of the position.
