- Work closely with leadership to drive SALT growth internally and externally, focusing on income/franchise consulting and compliance projects
- Manage SALT income/franchise projects, including nexus studies, restructuring opportunities, voluntary disclosure agreements, income/franchise tax compliance, pass-through entity tax projects, PL 86-282 studies, and return reviews for refund opportunities
- Represent clients in negotiations with taxing authorities regarding income/franchise tax audits, state tax notices, amnesty programs, and voluntary disclosure agreements
- Identify clients and targets for SALT’s income/franchise tax compliance center and provide review support for income/franchise tax return filings
- Develop, recruit, and grow regional associates and senior associates; assist with growing and training the SALT team
- Partner with industry leaders and NTO to develop income/franchise tax thought leadership
- Serve as a SALT resource to the national Transaction Tax Services team on M&A deals
- Build relationships with CRLs and industry leads to drive SALT growth and strengthen the SALT brand
- Contribute to SALT growth plans and national growth network initiatives, including recruiting and integration of acquired firms
- Ensure CLA risk management policies and procedures are followed, including engagement setup, client billing and collections, and document retention; train SALT staff on these policies
- Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate at all levels

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- Six years of experience in a tax role with a public accounting firm and/or professional services firm
- CPA certification required; JD or EA may be accepted in place of CPA certification
- Deep knowledge and understanding of State & Local Tax and Income Franchise Tax preferred
Demonstrates expertise in State & Local Tax (SALT) and Income Franchise Tax, with a strong focus on compliance, project management, and client representation. Proven ability to lead teams, develop talent, and drive growth initiatives within the tax consulting domain.
