- Perform interventional cardiac procedures, including cardiac catheterizations, angioplasty, peripheral vascular procedures, electrophysiology, and pacemakers
- Perform procedures safely, accurately, and promptly using current interventional cardiology standards and appropriate imaging standards
- Independently assist during interventional cardiac procedures
- Operate complex cardiology equipment and verify imaging protocols, procedures, and equipment parameters
- Perform first assist using appropriate sterile techniques
- Ensure patient and staff safety
- Monitor and record hemodynamic and physiologic values using Cath Lab Computer systems
- Perform quality control on equipment and devices
- Coordinate patient care with other staff and departments
- Maintain and request supply stock
- Keep work areas clean and functional according to DPH and The Joint Commission
- Train and educate students and technologists
- Participate in ongoing education, training, and the on-call rotation
- Work independently as a clinical/technical resource and may lead daily operations or train entry-level employees
- Associate degree in Radiology OR Associate degree in Cardiovascular Technology or related field
- Radiologic Technologist Certification (ARRT) OR Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (CCI)
- Radiologic Technologist state license or license eligible
- Basic Life Support Certification
- ACLS Certification
- Four (4) years of experience as an Interventional Cardiovascular Technologist
- Knowledge of interventional cardiac equipment, examinations, and procedures
- Knowledge of radiation safety protocols
- Ability to organize and set priorities
- Ability to work independently
- Training and education skills
- Frequent standing, occasional sitting, walking, and lifting 30-35 lbs
- Manual dexterity using fine hand manipulation to operate cardiac catheterization laboratory equipment
- Hearing and visual acuity sufficient to perform examinations, observe patients, read monitors and documents, and hear audible equipment alarms
- Exposure to bodily fluids and communicable diseases
Demonstrates expertise in performing interventional cardiac procedures, including catheterizations and angioplasty, while ensuring patient safety and adhering to imaging standards. Proficient in operating complex cardiology equipment and training others in clinical practices.
