Be a part of this innovative program that is the first of its kind in Massachusetts. CCBC and the Department of Mental Health (DMH) will work collaboratively in the PACT- Y program to meet the needs of youth and families who want a creative, flexible, dynamic team to support them in achieving their goals. A Young Adult Peer Mentor (YAPM) has personal experience living with and recovering from mental health challenges and/or substance abuse issues.

As a YAPM you will be trained to use your recovery experience with purpose and intent to instill hope and motivation to adolescents and young adults who are struggling with similar challenges.

Schedule options are Monday
- Friday, 11:00 - 7:00 and some weekends, or Tuesday
- Friday, 11:00 - 7:00, and Saturday 9:00 - 5:00.

• Work with the treatment team to ensure the youth’s vision guides decision making
• Help youth understand the impact of their behaviors and develop skills according to the treatment plan
• Foster effective communication between the youth and family, friends, providers and other natural supports
• Provide strength-based peer to peer communication, education and guidance
• Explore and identify cultural values and meaning in the transition to adulthood
• Encourage youth engagement in safe, healthy activities that reduce stress and build positive connections
• Coordinate care with the family, team, providers and DMH
• Complete required documentation per program guidelines

• Personal experience living with and recovering from mental health and/or substance abuse challenges.
• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or a related field
• Experience working with children, youth and families with mental health challenges
• Must be flexible and able to respond to young adults who may be under stress and, at times, in crisis
• A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
• Willingness to learn and seek guidance as needed
• Good organizational skills, in addition to effective verbal, written and computer skills
