Education Engineer - Infrastructure products

Introduction

Product education engineers use their technical experience to create evergreen, on-demand content that demonstrates our products' value to users. As a Product Education Engineer at Hashi Corp, you will build hands-on, code-complete tutorials and how-to documentation that help developers and Dev Ops professionals become experts in Hashi Corp's tools. You will be a source of truth for operational recommended practices and implementation guidance.

You will contribute to certification exams as a product SME, and contribute feedback into engineering teams to improve our products before they reach our users. In this role you will support Hashi Corp's infrastructure product line:
Terraform, Packer, Waypoint, Vagrant, and Sentinel.

Your role and responsibilities

In this role you will work with people across many different functions including product, engineering, sales engineering, and customer success. You will take feedback and requests, come up with solutions to real-world problems, and document those solutions for others to learn from.

In this role you can expect to

* Build and write hands-on, code complete tutorials and hosted terminal sessions to help practitioners learn Hashi Corp products.

* Produce diagrams, videos, and other media to cover a range of learning styles and needs.

* Write recommended and best practice guides for using Hashi Corp products in production.

* Curate educational resources created by other Hashi Corp staff and the open source community.

* Collaborate with other education engineers, sales engineers, product management, engineering, and solution architects to understand customer use cases and document solutions to their problems.

Required technical and professional expertise

Candidates who are a good fit for this role will be passionate about Dev Ops teaching, and education.

* 2+ years of experience in a technical role such as Dev Ops engineer, sales engineer, technical account manager, customer success engineer, enterprise architect, software engineer, or other relevant work experience.

* Experience developing, deploying, or running applications or services in the cloud.

* Experience teaching technical topics by using adult education best practices. This could be as a technical evangelist, trainer, or technical content writer.

* The ability to write clearly in a specific voice and style.

* The ability to organize content into logical structures that are easy to navigate.

Preferred skills

* Experience with Terraform is very strongly preferred.

* Experience with any Hashi Corp product.

* Experience reviewing and acting on analytics to improve user experiences.

* Experience operating and maintaining cloud infrastructure in a production environment.

* Experience creating audio or video content.

* Experience with graphic design or visual explanations.

* Experience delivering curriculum, exams, and certifications via training partners.
