Operations Management, Program / Project Manager
The Project Manager position is responsible for overseeing utility services projects for Electrical Distribution and Transmission, and Substations. This role leads project execution from planning through closeout, ensuring budgets, schedules, and customer communications are effectively managed. The Project Manager will act as the primary customer contact, develop project execution plans, and collaborate with internal teams to deliver quality results. This position offers the opportunity to lead complex projects, drive continuous improvement, and maintain strong client relationships.
Responsibilities- Oversee project labor force, ensuring efficient allocation and performance.
- Responsible for budgets, schedules, and customer communications, ensuring alignment with contract documents.
- Develop project execution plans in accordance with the contract documents and company standards.
- Act as the customer's main contact, facilitating regular updates and issue resolution.
- Develop and maintain the project master budget and schedule, and track progress against milestones.
- Keep management informed of any problem areas, especially those with a financial impact, and recommend corrective actions.
- Provide status reports to the customer on all projects, including variance reporting and contract progress monitoring.
- Provide follow-up with all customers to gauge satisfaction with services and gather input for possible improvements.
- Track all change orders and ensure prompt closeout of all assigned projects, including final billing and as-built records.
- Monitor and control project expenditures, ensuring accurate recording of invoices, claims, and supplier/subcontractor costs.
- Utilize productive reports from the project management system (Viewpoint) for effective project implementation.
- Collaborate with the project management team, safety, finance, and operations to resolve issues and ensure project completion.
- Participate in preconstruction tasks, including job kick-offs, utility work packages, and permitting, as needed.
- Attend and contribute to customer meetings, client negotiations, and regulatory discussions.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil/Mechanical/Electrical), Construction Management, or related field.
- Minimum of 5 years' project management experience in utility or construction utility required.
- Ability to organize and manage multiple project assignments simultaneously.
- Must have strong analytical, verbal, written, and communication skills.
- Must be highly motivated and self-directed, proactive, and willing to take on additional responsibilities.
- Ability to work in and with a team to deliver quality consistently, while also being capable of working independently.
- Strong computer skills, including MS Office (particularly Excel for data manipulation, spreadsheet design, and reporting).
- Knowledge of MS Project, Primavera, and AUTOCAD is a plus.
- Experience with budgeting, financial reporting, cost tracking, and change order management.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Prolonged periods of sedentary work in an office environment, with frequent trips to project sites.
- Field work involving heavy machinery, uneven terrain, and adverse weather conditions, with potential exposure to extreme heat, cold, rain, or high winds.
- Electrical hazards, such as energized power lines or equipment near substations and transmission lines.
- Cave-ins, falling objects, and dust laden with particulates on active construction sites.
- Prolonged standing and walking long distances around construction sites with uneven surfaces.
- Ability to climb ladders or scaffolds to access project areas.
- A combination of moderate lifting and frequent movement.
- Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Regular contact with all staff and departments, including Finance, Safety, Fleet, IT, and Legal.
- Significant contact specifically with operations, project management personnel, and leadership across Elecnor Hawkeye.
- Frequent contact with external parties, including customers, subcontractors, vendors, screening vendors, training providers, third-party administrators, and regulatory bodies as directed.
