Job Summary
ULC Technologies is seeking a Field Project Manager to oversee robotic gas main rehabilitation projects from planning through completion. This role manages field execution, client coordination, scheduling, reporting, and team leadership while working closely with highly specialized robotic field crews. Approximately 75% of time will be spent on active utility construction sites throughout New York, New Jersey, and the Boston area.
Project& Field Operations
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of ULC equipment, robotic systems, and field methodologies.
- Oversee daily field operations to ensure work is performed safely, accurately, and efficiently.
- Responsible for work continuity, production and safe operations.
- Monitor project progress across active and upcoming jobs to meet productivity targets.
- Maintain and manage crew schedules and field resources.
- Troubleshoot equipment, personnel, and operational issues in real time.
- Ensure financial goals and productivity are being met.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for utility clients during field execution.
- Provide regular project status updates and participate in weekly coordination calls.
- Review project maps and site plans; identify concerns and assist with project planning.
- Coordinate with utility clients on permitting, fittings, and municipal requirements to prevent delays.
- Attend client meetings and industry conferences as needed.
- Develop and deliver high-impact presentations to senior industry management and government stakeholders.
- Review and approve daily field reports, close-out documentation, and invoicing.
- Coordinate subcontractor activities and field reporting, seeing projects through to accurate invoicing.
- Ensure all deliverables are accurate and submitted on time.
- Manage availability of spare parts, tooling, and required PPE.
- Assist with hiring efforts, including candidate screening and interviews.
- Oversee onboarding and training of new field team members.
- Support continuous improvement in field processes and crew performance.
- Minimum of 5-7 years of experience managing turnkey field projects in the utility/construction industry.
- Strong understanding of gas utility operations, gas pipeline installation and ability to read site plans and maps.
- Proven ability to anticipate challenges and proactively solve problems.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Comfortable managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
- Ability to travel regularly to field job sites.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record.
- Ability to pass background check and random drug testing.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred or Associate’s degree or technical trade certification with at least 7 years relevant experience in the natural gas industry.
- Having updated Operator qualifications is a plus.

As required by law in this state, the salary range for this position is $102,400 - $156,600 and represents our good faith estimate as to what our ideal candidates are likely to expect.
We tailor our offers within the range based on organizational needs, internal equity, market data, geographic zone, and the selected candidate’s experience, education, industry knowledge, location, technical and communication skills, and other factors that may prove relevant during the selection process. At SPX, it is not common for individuals to be hired at the higher end of the range, and compensation decisions depend on a variety of factors.
This position is eligible to participate in a discretionary bonus, subject to the rules governing the plan. SPX offers a variety of benefits, including health benefits, 401K retirement with a company match, and flexible time off.
