Location:
St. Joseph, Missouri, home of our assembly plant that manufactures automotive and marine batteries.
- Ensure production requirements are met, maintaining appropriate staffing levels.
- Maintain employee relations and a safe, clean work environment.
- Plan, direct, coordinate, and control manufacturing activities in the assigned area to achieve management goals.
- Train production personnel to perform tasks safely and efficiently.
- Apply employee relations policies consistently, including coaching and disciplinary procedures.
- Requisition operating personnel to meet established production goals.
- Facilitate employee team operations and review/coach staff in line with plant goals.
- Administer the production salary/wage policy for operating personnel.
- Enforce health, environmental, and safety standards, work practices, and housekeeping policies.
- Arrange proper maintenance for machines and equipment.
- Report daily indicators such as production scrap, batteries per person/hour, and batteries per measured hour.
- Investigate material variances, report findings, and recommend improvements.
- Solicit and encourage process, procedure, and equipment improvements from team members.
- Audit Standard Work Practices and review them regularly for effectiveness through team meetings.
- Ensure boosting requirements are met and oversee receiving inspections.
- Assign work to meet daily manufacturing requirements.
- Control labor and material usage to meet or improve standard costs.
- Educate personnel on company rules, regulations, union agreements, and disciplinary procedures.
- Prepare reports as required.
- Work overtime to meet internal and external customer requirements.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business, or Operations (preferred).
- At least 1 year of supervisory or management experience (preferred).
- Ability to work any assigned shift and required overtime.
- Strong organizational and communication skills.
