Service Technician - Portland, ME
We are seeking a motivated and mechanically inclined Mechanical Repair Technician to join our team. This position involves the teardown, inspection, evaluation, repair, and reassembly of a variety of industrial equipment, including gearboxes, process pumps, hydraulic cylinders, and related machinery.
Mechanical experience is preferred; however, we are willing to train the right individual who demonstrates a strong work ethic, aptitude for learning, and a genuine interest in industrial equipment and mechanical systems.
Responsibilities- Disassemble, inspect, troubleshoot, and reassemble gearboxes, process pumps, hydraulic cylinders, and other rotating equipment.
- Evaluate component wear and determine repair or replacement requirements.
- Perform equipment testing and quality checks following repairs.
- Maintain accurate service and repair documentation.
- Follow all company safety procedures and quality standards.
- Assist with general shop operations and equipment maintenance.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and interest in how mechanical systems operate.
- Ability to safely use hand and power tools.
- Experience with industrial equipment repair is preferred but not required.
- Willingness to learn machining and fabrication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Experience with, or willingness to learn:
- Milling machine operation
- Lathe operation
- Welding and fabrication
- Spray welding
- Precision measurement and inspection techniques
- Hydraulic and mechanical troubleshooting
