Job Overview
This position supervises and coordinates activities of subordinates engaged in construction and repair of all types of HVAC equipment and refrigeration equipment and systems. The role performs routine maintenance, inspection, and installation of heating, ventilation, air conditioning, refrigeration systems and associated equipment such as dual duct systems, multi‑zone units, electrical controls, pneumatic controls, steam coils, chilled water systems, self‑contained heating and cooling units, exhaust systems, fume hoods, ice machines, ultra‑variable pitch vane axial fan, variable air volume systems, square root extraction, logic relays, velocity transmitters and other miscellaneous equipment.
Minimum Qualifications- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Graduate of recognized technical HVAC and Refrigeration school with additional training in sophisticated, technically advanced equipment.
- Refrigeration Technicians License.
- Five (5) years’ experience working with heating, ventilation and air conditioning systems, including three (3) years of supervisory experience.
- Develops and coordinates indoor air quality program, including maintenance of all HVAC equipment, purchasing equipment, measuring and maintaining equipment, making recommendations, documenting and submitting monthly/quarterly reports to the EOC safety committee.
- Oversees and maintains the preventative maintenance program for compliance, tracks trends and submits monthly reports for Joint Commission accreditation purposes, and distributes preventative maintenance slips to HVAC staff while monitoring compliance weekly.
- Modifies and improves the Johnson Controls Metasys Automation System, providing information for all controlling locations to monitor status and system performance.
- Gives monthly reports on energy savings in place and makes recommendations for improvement.
- Interfaces and communicates with HVAC staff on a daily basis regarding ongoing HVAC problems.
- Maintains necessary records and moves materials and supplies as needed for duties or as directed.
- Inspects work completed by own shop and by outside contractors, detecting and reporting improper operations, faulty equipment, defective materials, and unusual conditions.
- Maintains the work area in a clean and orderly condition and follows furnished safety rules and regulations.
- Coordinates all HVAC aspects of all hospital projects using in‑house staff and outside contractors, assigning and scheduling work activities to ensure calls are responded to quickly and accurately.
- Prepares detailed cost estimates of requisitions and projects, including man‑hours and all applicable costs.
- Performs personnel–related activities, including interviewing, hiring, conducting annual performance reviews, recommending wages and increases, and reviewing and approving daily timesheets.
Lowell General Hospital – 40 hours per week, Full Time.
Pay Range$40.53 – $51.67 per hour.
