Sr. Mobile Diesel Technician

The company is a leading provider of on‑site mobile maintenance and repair services nationwide, offering mobile fleet service for light, medium, and heavy‑duty trucks and trailers. Cox Fleet also services customers through over 50 nationwide service centers, performing accident repair, painting, refurbishment, and heavy mechanical repair.

Supported by a 24/7 in‑house call center, it provides scheduled maintenance services and unscheduled services to fleets anywhere, anytime.

DUTIES
  • Perform scheduled preventative maintenance (“PM”), DOT inspections, and follow‑up repairs on light, medium, and heavy‑duty vehicles in a mobile/field environment.
  • Perform minor adjustments and repairs on various truck equipment including electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines (gas and diesel), transmissions (manual and automatic), clutches, and differentials.
  • Diagnose, adjust, and repair truck equipment such as electrical, brake, cooling systems, starters, alternators, air conditioning systems, fan clutches, engine electronics, diesel steering systems, engines, transmissions, clutches, and differentials.
  • Inspect, test, and listen to defective equipment to diagnose malfunctions, using test instruments such as handheld computers and pressure gauges.
  • Road test vehicles to diagnose malfunctions and ensure proper operation.
  • Identify problems and determine accuracy and relevance of information, using sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives.
  • Independently manage parts inventory and equipment on company‑issued service trucks and perform periodic reconciliation.
  • Maintain and operate company‑issued service vehicle, conduct safety checks, and perform pre‑ and post‑trip inspections.
  • Work with and listen effectively to clients and customers to assess needs, provide information or assistance, resolve problems, and satisfy expectations.
  • Manage concurrent assigned tasks, prioritizing work activities and time allocations.
  • Use hand tools, precision instruments, diesel tools, welding equipment, lifts, and jacks.
  • Document work according to company standards and upload pictures, parts used, and findings on Repair Orders (“RO”) using company‑issued iOS devices and the TRAIT application.
  • Accurately complete DOT forms and other documentation in a timely fashion.
  • Work with a high degree of independence and manage own daily schedule.
  • Maintain a high level of productivity and work within or close to standard repair times.
  • Obtain parts from approved local and national vendors as needed for repairs.
  • Communicate with management and support teams via email or phone to obtain approvals on repair estimates, retrieve purchase order numbers, and discuss RO findings and notes.
  • Perform all work in compliance with organizational safety, health, and environmental policies and federal regulations, including OSHA, EPA, and DOT.
  • Maintain company‑issued service truck and conduct daily pre/post‑trip inspections.
REQUIREMENTS
  • High School Diploma/GED and 5 years of experience in a related field. Alternative qualifications include any degree/certification beyond a HS diploma with 3 years experience, or 7 years experience in a related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience with refrigerated equipment.
  • Possess and supply a set of hand tools necessary to perform required job duties.
  • OEM training and certifications are preferred.
  • Participate in and complete all company‑required training.
  • Pass a DOT‑regulated pre‑employment background screening and DOT physical prior to employment, or submit a valid DOT medical card with more than four months remaining until expiration.
  • Be at least 21 years or older, due to interstate operating authority and commerce regulations.
  • Hold a valid state‑of‑residence driver’s license and be able to obtain and maintain a Driver Qualification File.
REQUIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR OBTAINED WITHIN 18 MONTHS
