General Summary of Position:

The Assistant Director of Fitness Programs & Facilities will manage the operations of all Campus Recreation fitness programs, facilities, activity spaces, and student and part-time staff. This includes recruiting, hiring, training, supervising, and evaluating upwards of 60+ student and part time staff, managing two fitness centers, and overseeing group fitness, personal training, and other instructional and specialty fitness programs.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Sports and Recreation Management or a closely related field. Can substitute education with nationally recognized certifications in group fitness and/or personal training.
  • 3-5 years of experience in fitness programming and management, including personal training and/or group fitness.
  • Current certification in CPR/AED and First Aid, or the ability to obtain from a nationally recognized organization within the first (6) months of employment.

Additional Considerations:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational, interpersonal and collaboration skills as well as the ability to multitask and prioritize projects and responsibilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Nationally recognized certification in group fitness and personal training.
  • Previous work experience with college students or college-age populations.

This is a full-time, benefited SEIU union position in grade P16. Anticipated salary based on range minimum: $59,674, 25th quartile of $67,879 and midpoint of $76,085.
