Position Overview
Grow your professional skills in a supportive environment. The Accountant 1 position with the Department of Transportation supports financial work that keeps important projects moving. You help ensure payments are accurate and timely for many different programs, building confidence in financial procedures while strengthening services across the state.
Responsibilities- Invoice Review:
Examine payment documents and ensure information is accurate before processing. - Discrepancy Resolution:
Work with purchasers, receivers, and vendors to correct problems that delay payments. - Report Preparation:
Compile monthly financial reports and analyze data to support improvement efforts. - Vendor Communication:
Respond to inquiries and provide guidance about invoice status and payment procedures. - Process Support:
Assist with new invoice processes and contribute suggestions to improve overall efficiency. - Technical Coordination:
Serve as a liaison with Comptroller Operations and Integrated Enterprise System staff on processing and reconciliation issues.
- Full‑time employment.
- Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with a 60‑minute lunch.
- Telework:
Part‑time telework is possible from an approved location in Pennsylvania with a securely configured high‑speed internet connection. Option to work at headquarters in Harrisburg is available. - Salary:
The starting salary may be non‑negotiable in some cases.
- Successful completion of the Commonwealth’s Accounting Intern Program or equivalent.
- One year as a Financial Programs Trainee, Fiscal Technician, or Bookkeeping experience (five years) with fifteen college credits in accounting.
- A Bachelor’s Degree including or supplemented by fifteen credits in accounting.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- You must meet the PA residency requirement.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
