A global industrial company is seeking a Senior Tax Manager to join its international tax function. This role is ideal for a technically strong tax professional who enjoys building processes, improving systems, and operating as a hands‑on subject matter expert across U.S. and international tax. The position reports to the head of global tax and works closely with Accounting, FP&A, Treasury, and external advisors.
Role OverviewThe Senior Tax Manager will lead key areas of global tax, with a particular focus on transfer pricing strategy, documentation, and audit defense. The role also supports U.S. federal/state compliance, international reporting, IFRS tax provision, and ongoing automation initiatives. This is a high‑visibility position suited for someone who thrives in a dynamic, multinational environment and wants to help modernize a tax function.
Key Responsibilities- Contribute to global transfer pricing strategy, policy development, and intercompany pricing across goods, services, IP, and financing.
- Prepare and review TP documentation (master file, local files, benchmarking, CbCR).
- Maintain intercompany agreements and cost‑sharing arrangements; ensure alignment between legal, financial, and operational structures.
- Support global TP audits, controversy management, and defense strategies.
- Perform functional analyses, economic studies, and periodic true‑ups.
Tax Accounting & Provision (IFRS)
- Assist with global tax provision, including current/deferred calculations and effective tax rate analysis.
- Evaluate technical accounting positions (valuation allowance, uncertain tax positions, purchase accounting).
- Partner with external auditors on quarterly/annual reviews and support SOX control documentation.
- Ensure accurate reconciliations, journal entries, and disclosures.
Compliance, Planning & Audit
- Support U.S. federal, state, and international tax compliance (including forms 5471, 5472, 8858, 8865, GILTI, FDII, BEAT, Subpart
F). - Participate in tax planning initiatives such as entity structuring, cash repatriation, M&A diligence, and legislative impact analysis (including OECD Pillar Two).
- Serve as a point of contact for tax authority audits across multiple jurisdictions.
Automation & Process Improvement
- Improve tax workflows using tools such as Alteryx, Power Query/Power BI, One Source, or similar platforms.
- Build scalable templates and data models to streamline provision, compliance, and transfer pricing processes.
- Enhance tax data extraction and analytics through ERP/reporting systems.
- Promote a continuous‑improvement mindset within the tax function.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or Master’s in Taxation preferred.
- 8–10+ years of progressive corporate tax experience, ideally with strong transfer pricing exposure.
- IFRS tax provision experience strongly preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to design, implement, and defend transfer pricing policies.
- Experience with automation tools (One Source, Corptax, CCH, Alteryx, Power BI, etc.).
- Background in multinational manufacturing, industrial, or materials companies is a plus.
- Strong analytical, communication, and project‑management skills.
- Experience mentoring or leading tax professionals.
