Position Overview
Become a Clerical Assistant 2 with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and take part in work that keeps the agency running smoothly every day. This position gives you the opportunity to apply your organizational strengths and communication skills in a meaningful way. Your efforts will support both staff and the public, helping ensure that information is accurate and accessible.
Description of WorkThis position supports daily office operations by preparing documents, maintaining records, and assisting with communication tasks. As a Clerical Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:
- Document Preparation:
Create reports, correspondence, and other materials from various source formats. - Information Review:
Proofread documents to ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to rules. - Record Management:
Organize, maintain, and update computerized and paper filing systems. - Office Support:
Handle calls, visitors, mail, and inquiries while maintaining confidentiality. - Supply Coordination:
Request and distribute office supplies, forms, and equipment. - Travel Processing:
Enter travel receipts and coordinate travel arrangements for staff.
- Full‑time employment, 37.5 hours per week.
- Work hours are 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, Monday‑Friday, with a 30‑minute lunch.

Not an option. - Salary:
Starting annual salary of $36,831 (before taxes) for new Commonwealth employees.
- Six months as a Clerical Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title).
- Graduation from high school.
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Possess keyboarding skills to meet standards for speed and accuracy.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must be able to efficiently use and navigate a personal computer.
- Must have experience with the Microsoft systems (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other software packages to create and maintain spreadsheets, calendars, documents, rosters, etc.
- Must have the ability to work with various office equipment such as scanner, printer, fax machine, computer, tablet, telephone, personal communication devices, etc.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
