About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Product Manager to lead a major application modernization initiative for a critical public-sector solution. This is a high-visibility, multi-year modernization project focused on transforming a legacy application into a modern, scalable, user-focused platform.
The Product Manager will own the product vision, strategy, roadmap, requirements, backlog, and delivery lifecycle. You will work closely with business stakeholders, architects, developers, UX/UI professionals, and vendors to ensure the modernized solution meets current and future business needs while adhering to security, accessibility, data privacy, and compliance standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Own and drive the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for a large-scale application modernization initiative.
- Gather, document, prioritize, and manage business requirements and user stories from diverse stakeholders.
- Translate business needs into clear user stories, acceptance criteria, and actionable product backlog items
. - Partner with solution architects, developers, UX/UI designers, and vendors to define modern technical and integration approaches.
- Prioritize features and technical initiatives based on business value, risk, dependencies, and strategic objectives.
- Facilitate Agile/Scrum activities including backlog refinement, sprint planning, sprint reviews, and retrospectives.
- Serve as the primary bridge between business stakeholders and technical delivery teams.
- Define product success metrics and KPIs and monitor progress against business objectives.
- Oversee and support large-scale data conversion and testing activities
. - Identify risks, dependencies, and delivery impediments and drive them toward resolution.
- Support change management, user adoption, communications, and training activities.
- Ensure the product aligns with applicable security, accessibility, data privacy, and compliance requirements, including WCAG standards
. - Provide regular project and product updates, recommendations, and risk assessments to leadership and business sponsors.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience as a Product Manager leading large-scale, $10M+ public-sector modernization initiatives
. - Proven experience modernizing legacy applications or leading significant digital transformation initiatives.
- Strong experience gathering requirements and user stories from diverse business stakeholders and converting them into prioritized product backlogs.
- Hands‑on knowledge of Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Azure Dev Ops, Jira, or similar platforms.
- Experience overseeing and testing large-scale data conversions
. - Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to manage multiple competing priorities, stakeholders, risks, and dependencies.
