Position Title: Education & External Engagement Coordinator
Reports To: Music Director
Type: Part-Time, Approximately 10 Hours per Week
Payrate: $15,000 Annually
Philadelphia Sinfonia Association is seeking a personable, organized, and community-minded Education & External Engagement Coordinator to serve as a key ambassador for the organization throughout the Philadelphia region. This part-time position will help Philadelphia Sinfonia strengthen relationships with private teachers, school music directors, youth music programs, and educational partners while expanding the organization’s visibility and student recruitment efforts. The Coordinator will represent Philadelphia Sinfonia at concerts, school programs, festivals, PMEA events, All-City activities, PMAY events, recruitment fairs, auditions, and other music and community events.
The position is well suited to someone who enjoys meeting people, building professional relationships, talking about music education, and helping young musicians discover new opportunities.
Philadelphia Sinfonia Association provides high-level orchestral education and performance opportunities for young musicians throughout the Philadelphia region. Through its ensembles, concerts, educational experiences, and partnerships, the organization helps students grow as musicians, collaborators, and members of a broader artistic community.
What You Will Do- Represent Philadelphia Sinfonia at concerts, educational events, festivals, recruitment fairs, auditions, and community programs.
- Coordinate outreach tables and distribute approved recruitment and promotional materials.
- Build relationships with private music teachers, school music directors, youth music organizations, and educational partners.
- Contact schools, studios, teachers, and community programs to share information about Philadelphia Sinfonia.
- Support fall, spring, and rolling audition, recruiting students across elementary, middle, and high school age levels.
- Help recruit students in priority instruments, including brass, double bass, cello, viola, bassoon, oboe, and percussion.
- Expand Philadelphia Sinfonia’s visibility within the city of Philadelphia and the surrounding region.
- Speak with prospective students, families, and educators about auditions, ensembles, tuition, scholarships, and the placement process.
- Maintain current teacher, school, studio, and community contact lists.
- Track student leads, teacher referrals, outreach activity, and audition registrations.
- Prepare brief monthly reports and post-event summaries.
- Work with the Music Director, Managing Director, Program Manager, and Marketing Associate to coordinate outreach priorities and messaging.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in music, music education, education, arts administration, communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build relationships with a wide range of people.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong organization, follow-through, and attention to detail.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating with artistic and administrative staff.
- Comfort representing an organization publicly and speaking with students, families, educators, and community partners.
- Evening and weekend availability.
- Reliable transportation or the ability to travel to events throughout the Philadelphia region.
- Orchestral experience as a musician, educator, conductor, administrator, or youth orchestra participant.
- Familiarity with orchestral instruments, student auditions, and ensemble placement.
- Experience in recruitment, admissions, outreach, marketing, community engagement, or relationship management.
- Existing familiarity with private teachers, school music programs, youth music organizations, or the Philadelphia-area arts community.
- Experience maintaining contact databases or tracking prospective students and referrals.

Schedule:
Approximately 10 hours per week over 50 weeks per year - Reports To: Music Director
- Works Closely With: Managing Director
- Location: Philadelphia region, with a combination of remote administrative work and in-person events
- Schedule: Flexible, with required evening and weekend availability for concerts, festivals, auditions, and outreach events
