Position SummaryThe Senior Manager, eBilling Strategy & Performance co-owns the firm-side strategy, oversight, and performance of the eBilling function. The role is accountable for advancing the firm's eBilling inventory through timely, accurate submission and acceptance and for addressing issues that delay invoicing, payment, or revenue realization.
Reporting directly to the head of the firm's Revenue function, this position serves as the firm's senior eBilling subject-matter expert and primary operational contact for the outsourced eBilling provider. The Senior Manager works in close partnership with the Director of Revenue Operations, who serves as the firm's primary business contact for the provider. Together, they align firm priorities and provider performance, while the Senior Manager leads day-to-day operational coordination, monitors outcomes, manages escalations, and ensures that the provider understands and responds to the firm's operational needs.
The role combines strategic leadership and performance management with hands‑on investigation and resolution of complex or high‑value eBilling matters.
The Senior Manager works closely with attorneys, client teams, Billing, Collections and Appeals, Pricing, Finance, New Business Intake, Technology, and other stakeholders to remove obstacles, strengthen matter readiness, prevent recurring failures, and improve visibility and accountability throughout the eBilling lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities- eBilling Strategy and Inventory Performance
- Own the firm-wide eBilling inventory and develop actionable plans to move invoices from preparation and submission through acceptance and progression toward payment.
- Establish priorities based on invoice value, age, client requirements, collectability, deadlines, business risk, and ease of resolution.
- Monitor submission, acceptance, rejection, appeal, and payment activity to identify issues affecting billing velocity and revenue realization.
- Develop and maintain performance measures and reporting, including inventory aging, first-pass acceptance, rejection volume, turnaround time, backlog movement, vendor service levels, and revenue at risk.
- Identify systemic issues, control gaps, and recurring failure points and translate findings into practical process, system, training, or policy improvements.
- Provide senior Revenue leadership with clear, timely reporting on performance, material risks, emerging trends, and recommended actions.
- Outsourced Provider Partnership and Accountability
- Serve as the firm's primary operational contact for the outsourced eBilling provider, working closely with the Director of Revenue Operations as the firm's primary business contact.
- Communicate firm priorities, expected outcomes, service requirements, and escalation needs through the provider's designated management contacts.
- Establish an effective operating cadence with the provider, including regular inventory reviews, performance discussions, issue escalation, root-cause analysis, and follow-through on corrective actions.
