Senior Shop CWI and Quality CWI

Compensation - From $38+/hr (dependant on candidate experience)
The Opportunity

A well-established and growing structural steel and bridge fabrication company is looking for an experienced Senior Shop CWI / Quality CWI to join its Pennsylvania-based fabrication operation.

This is a key shop-based quality position, providing the opportunity to take responsibility for welding inspection and quality assurance across structural and bridge fabrication projects.

The role would suit an experienced CWI who is confident working alongside production teams and wants to play an active role in maintaining and improving fabrication quality.

The company is also open to considering a strong standalone CWI who is ready to progress into a more senior position.

As a Senior Shop CWI / Quality CWI, you will be responsible for:

• Inspecting structural steel and bridge fabrication to ensure work meets required quality standards.
• Verifying welding procedures and welder qualifications.
• Maintaining accurate traceability and inspection records.
• Managing Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs) and supporting quality audits.
• Working closely with production teams to identify and resolve quality issues.
• Supporting improvements to quality processes and fabrication performance.
• Coaching and supporting less experienced quality and inspection personnel.
• Ensuring fabrication activities comply with applicable welding codes, specifications and quality requirements.

The ideal candidate will have:

• AWS Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) certification.
• Previous experience within structural steel or bridge fabrication

• Knowledge of AISC quality systems
  .
• Strong knowledge of AWS D1.1; D1.5 / bridge experience is preferred.
• NDT Level II capability

• Strong attention to detail and a high standard of quality.
• The ability to work effectively alongside production and fabrication teams.
• Strong communication skills and the confidence to identify and address quality issues.
• The ability to support and develop less experienced quality personnel.

Candidates will be considered at different experience levels. The salary range reflects the flexibility available, with stronger and more experienced CWI/NDT professionals potentially reaching the top end of the range.
