Job Summary

The Director of Conflict of Interest & Research Integrity leads Drexel University’s programs related to research conflict of interest, research integrity, and responsible conduct of research (RCR). This role serves as both the Conflict of Interest Officer and the Research Integrity Officer, providing institutional leadership for COI management, research misconduct assessments and investigations, and proactive integrity education.

This position expands Drexel’s outward‑facing services by strengthening training, faculty engagement, and campus‑wide awareness of research integrity principles. It also enables Drexel to conduct research misconduct investigations in‑house, reducing reliance on external consultants and generating long‑term cost savings.

Essential Functions
  • Serve as Drexel’s Research Integrity Officer (RIO), overseeing research misconduct inquiries, investigations, reporting, and compliance with federal regulations (e.g., 42 CFR Part 93).
  • Serve as the Conflict of Interest Officer, managing COI disclosures, reviewing potential conflicts, and developing management plans.
  • Lead the university’s Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) program, including training, outreach, and faculty engagement.
  • Develop and implement policies related to COI, research integrity, and responsible research practices.
  • Conduct or oversee research misconduct investigations internally, reducing the need for external consultants.
  • Provide guidance to faculty, staff, and students on COI, research integrity, and ethical research practices.
  • Collaborate with Sponsored Research, HR, General Counsel, and academic units to ensure consistent and compliant processes.
  • Monitor regulatory changes and ensure institutional alignment with federal and sponsor requirements.
  • Maintain confidentiality and ensure fair, unbiased handling of all research integrity matters.

Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Master's Degree or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 5–7 years of experience in research compliance, research integrity, COI management, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of federal regulations governing research misconduct and COI.
  • Strong analytical, investigative, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage sensitive matters with discretion and impartiality.
Preferred Qualifications
  • PhD, JD, or other advanced degree preferred.
  • Experience conducting research misconduct investigations.
  • Experience developing and delivering training programs.
  • Experience in a university or research‑intensive environment.

This position is classified as Exempt, grade O. Compensation for this grade ranges from $ - $ per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
