Are you ready to apply your HVAC and refrigeration skills in a fast-paced setting where reliable performance is essential? As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician for the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs, you will maintain, repair, and improve systems that support key operations. This position offers the chance to work with advanced controls, multiple fuel sources, and a wide range of specialized equipment.
Your work will directly support mission readiness by keeping vital systems functioning safely and efficiently.
This role focuses on maintaining, adjusting, and repairing HVAC and refrigeration systems that support buildings throughout Fort Indiantown Gap. As an HVAC Refrigeration Technician, you will perform the following duties:
- Preventive Maintenance:
Perform scheduled maintenance on HVAC systems, including testing for leaks and servicing gas-fired units - Control Calibration:
Clean, test, adjust, and calibrate pneumatic and electronic controls, sensors, and actuators - System Monitoring:
Evaluate system performance and identify issues affecting efficient operation - Airflow Adjustment:
Calibrate air dampers, balancing valves, and modulating controls to maintain proper airflow and water flow - Electrical Repair:
Troubleshoot electrical controls, determine electrical loads, and install circuits following code requirements - Blueprint Reading:
Read blueprints and install wiring for heating and cooling systems, pumps, and motors

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 37.5 hours per week
- Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.

- Successful completion of the HVAC and Building Automation Technician trainee program (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
- Three years of experience in the maintenance, repair, and installation of HVAC and refrigeration systems, units, and equipment including one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training which includes one year working with commercial or industrial HVAC or refrigeration equipment and controls.
- You must be in possession of an active motor vehicle license.
- You must obtain EPA Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification from an approved provider within 6 months of employment.
- You must pass a favorable National Crime Information Center (NCIC) screening for admittance to Fort Indiantown Gap.
- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Willingness and ability to work in Lebanon County, Pennsylvania
- Possession of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Universal Certification
- Possession of an Universal Refrigerant Transition and Recovery Certification
- Experience reading and interpreting blueprints or wiring diagrams and schematics
- Experience making adjustments and repairs to heating systems (steam, hot water, and gas), as well as refrigeration and freezer units (reach-in and walk-in)
- Experience installing refrigeration or HVAC systems, units, equipment, and peripheral devices
