DESCRIPTIONOF WORK
This position supports recreational programs that promote wellness, learning, and constructive use of time within the institution. As a Corrections Activities Specialist, you will perform the following duties:
- Program Coordination:
Plan, organize, and conduct structured and general activities, including wellness programs, sports, inmate organizations, and volunteer resources - Instruction and Guidance:
Provide individual and group instruction, coaching, and physical education, while leading participants through recreational programs - Program Evaluation:
Assess inmate interests, review program effectiveness, prepare reports, and maintain records according to departmental policies and American Correctional Association (ACA) standards - Facility Oversight:
Maintain recreation areas and equipment, supervise inmate setup and cleanup, and manage storage, inventory, and supply requests - Administrative Input:
Assist in setting program goals, support budgeting recommendations, and help carry out administrative tasks for recreational activities

Work Schedule and Additional Information- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- Work hours are 12:00 PM to 8:30 PM, Tuesday - Saturday.

- A bachelor's degree with major course work in recreation and physical education; or
- An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.

- You must be able to perform essential job functions.
- You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
