DESCRIPTION OF WORK
This position supervises staff and guides the daily care, safety, and development of young people in the youth development center and youth forestry camp system. As a Juvenile Justice Specialist Supervisor, you will perform the following duties:
- Safety Oversight:
Monitor residents and staff to maintain a secure environment and prevent harmful behaviors - Daily Guidance:
Instruct and support residents in hygiene, recreation, work tasks, and treatment activities - Behavior Support:
Assist with case planning, reinforce expectations, and help residents work toward treatment goals - Staff Supervision:
Train, observe, and evaluate employees to ensure consistent care and effective intervention skills - Incident Response:
Address emergencies, intervene when needed, and apply appropriate techniques to maintain order - Administrative Tasks:
Complete records, reports, staffing reviews, and employee documentation according to policy
Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment, 40 hours per week
- This position requires shift work in a 24/7/365 operation, including holidays and weekends. Eight-hour shifts normally consist of 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM, and 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM with no duty-free lunch. You will have a 5-day work week with 2 regular days off.

You will not have the option to telework in this position. - Salary:
Selected candidates who are new to employment with the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania will begin employment at the starting annual salary of $63,093.00 (before taxes). - FREE parking!

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY
Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:
- One year of experience as a Juvenile Justice Specialist (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) ; or
- Three years of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; or
- One year of experience in the care, custody, activities, or personal guidance of adolescents or adults in a human services or social services program, law enforcement or correctional program, or an educational, community, or military organization; and an associate’s degree in social sciences, counseling, restorative justice, juvenile justice, child development, behavioral sciences, human services, criminal justice, education, or a closely related field;
or - An equivalent combination of experience and training.
- You must be at least 21 years old at the time of application.
- You must be willing to accept employment at Loysville Youth Development Center and commute to this location in Loysville, Perry County.
