Provides administrative and project support to the Human Resources Department by assisting with daily tasks and contributing to assigned initiatives.

Essential Functions:

  • Assists with filing and maintaining organized records;
  • Assist with elements of civil service exams;
  • Contributes to special projects as assigned;
  • Performs other related duties as required.
Job Requirements

Qualifications: Must be an undergraduate or graduate student pursuing a degree in Human Resources or a related major. Valid Texas Driver's License required.

Internship Details:

  • Duration: Approximately June 1st - July 31st;
  • Hours: Interns generally work an average of 20-29 hours per week, depending on the needs of the office and the availability of the intern. Office is open 8 am-5pm, Monday-Friday;
  • Dress: Business casual/ business professional.

Knowledge and Abilities:

  • Basic data entry, reporting, and maintaining accurate employee records;
  • Customer service and public interaction principles;
  • Computers, office software, and standard office equipment.

Ability to:

  • Communicate effectively both orally and in writing, including presenting information to groups
  • Perform accurate and organized filing
  • Adapt quickly to changing priorities and manage multiple tasks efficiently

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to occasionally lift and carry up to 20 pounds;
  • Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, and grasping required;
  • Frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and squatting required for filing and records work;
  • Frequent walking to assist employees and visitors;
  • Ability to sit, stand, and rotate upper body as needed throughout the workday;
  • Must be able to safely operate a vehicle, including coordination of hand, eye, and foot movements.
