Position Overview

The Sr. Research Analyst in the Grants & Contracts Administration unit of the Division of Research & Innovation will work on the Post Award Grant Management team to oversee post award expenditure compliance and management of grant usage. Reporting to the Sr Director, Post Award Grant Management, this position’s job duties include:

  • Budget review and reconciliation to ensure fiscal accuracy and transparency.
  • Financial analysis and forecasting to support proactive grant management (monitoring burn rate, ensuring accurate reporting to agencies).
  • Development and implementation of procedures that align with federal, state, and institutional compliance standards and communication with college/unit research administrators.
  • Quasi supervision and oversight of college/unit post‑award staff, including training.
  • Strategic process optimization in collaboration with the Sr. Director to streamline operations and reduce risk.
Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, finance, auditing, public administration, or a related field and five years of relevant administrative work or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

  • Ability to work independently on assigned proposals and awards, and as part of a team of central and distributed research administrators to support common goals.
  • Excellent written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong time management and problem‑solving skills.
  • Prior knowledge of pre‑ or post‑award administration regulations and procedures.
  • General administrative experience with budgets, purchasing, payroll, travel with specific skill in budget planning, analysis, and reconciliation.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of sensitive information.

Job Duties
  • Oversee budgets, reporting schedules, and regulatory timelines.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact and approver for all sponsored project expenditures.
  • Point of contact for post‑award issues and compliance inquiries from specific college units, including advising Principal Investigators (PIs) and project staff on award terms, obligations, and allowable costs.
  • Coordinate internal communication, including amendments, extensions, and reporting requirements.
  • Interpret federal, state, and institutional policies and translate them into actionable guidance.
  • Act as liaison between PIs, administrative staff, and the central office (Sr. Director and Post Award Accounting staff) to ensure seamless operations and billing.
  • Monitor report submissions and ensure timely and compliant project closeouts and assist with effort reporting and monitoring in the college/units.

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday, 8am‑5pm. Hybrid. Some evenings and weekends as required.
