Position Summary
The Downstream Bioprocessing Business Development Manager will drive the growth and success of Isolere and Purexa’s purification solutions. Reporting to the GM of Isolere, the role is focused on driving commercial growth and technical adoption of Donaldson’s purification solutions across bioprocessing clients. The manager will identify, develop, and execute strategic initiatives to expand the client base and increase revenue streams. The position requires a remote schedule with up to 40% travel primarily in North America and EU.
RoleResponsibilities
- Serve on the Isolere and Purexa leadership teams, voicing customer and commercial engagement feedback.
- Develop and execute business deals that deliver value and secure early adopters (alpha/beta testing, material transfer agreements, collaborations, and supply agreements).
- Support and optimize established channel partnerships; seek additional opportunities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive business development strategies to achieve company objectives and targets.
- Drive customer adoption and retention strategies.
- Nurture strong customer relationships with decision makers in pharma, biotech, CROs, vector cores, and related industries.
- Develop and manage sales budgets, forecasts, and commercial team build-out.
- Support and mentor a commercially aligned team, including field application scientists.
- Analyze the sales cycle regularly and adjust tactics accordingly.
- Develop processes and tools that deliver an excellent customer experience and sales team operations, including the management of contacts and the opportunity funnel within the CRM.
- Support the GM in compiling data and presentations for senior management.
- Collaborate with product and technology roadmaps by providing customer insights and market trends.
- Partner with marketing and product management on lead generation activities, including participation in congresses and key events.
Minimum Qualifications
- 5+ years’ experience in life sciences corporate, business development, or direct sales role.
- Bachelor’s degree in Biology, Biosciences, Biochemical Engineering, Pharmaceutical Sciences, Biochemistry, or a related field.
- Established network within the Pharma/Biotech industry, especially in advanced therapeutic modalities.
- Proficiency using CRM systems (Microsoft Dynamics) for contact and opportunity tracking.
- Experience with adoption and commercialization of disruptive technologies and growing the first $5M of revenue for a new business.
- MBA or PhD with scientific focus area.
- Strong understanding of the bioprocessing industry and its commercial drivers.
- Highly motivated individual with strong communication skills.
