Welcome to the Department of Surgery at Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center in Lubbock. We are an academic surgeryprogram with several hallmarks. First and foremost, we train thebest of the next generation of independent, confident surgeonsready for general surgery practice or to pursue advanced fellowship training upon graduation. We do this by providing early autonomy indiagnosis and clinical decision making, perioperative care, and inthe operating room itself.

We believe that in order to practicesurgery well, you must actually be in the operating room from thestart of your surgical training. We value the collegiality and support we provide each other and ensure that camaraderie remains adefining characteristic of this program.

This position would be faculty for TTUHSC while also holdingleadership roles at UMC Health System Children’sHospital . Learn more on this unique tour of the Hospital. Potential for leadership role at UMC Health System as the Director of Pediatric Surgery.

• Provide pediatric surgical and trauma call coverage at University Medical Center Children’s Hospital 10 shifts per month.
  
  Shifts are inclusive of 24-hour Call;
• Provide up to 6 days of clinic coverage inclusive of follow upcare clinics, surgical consults and outreach clinics;
• Participate in quality improvement activities as part of amultidisciplinary team;
• Educate and mentor surgical residents and medical students;and
• Engage in research and scholarly activities to advance thefield of pediatric surgery.
