Asst/Assoc/Full Professor, Hematology Oncology

Position Description

Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center (TTUHSC) is seeking a fellowship‑trained Hematologist/Oncologist in Lubbock, Texas to work at the University Medical Center (UMC) TLC² Foundation Cancer Center.

UMC is a 500‑bed public academic medical center serving a 9,400‑transfer catchment area from 157 counties across 260,000 square miles. The UMC’s new 124,000‑sq. ft. comprehensive academic cancer center opened on April 20, 2026, and offers advanced radiation oncology, infusion & chemotherapy services, outpatient adult and pediatric oncology clinics, dedicated infusion and specialty pharmacies, research space, clinical trials infrastructure, and integrative medicine services.

Major/Essential

Functions
  • Conduct comprehensive physical exams with review of medical history and lab/diagnostic testing.
  • Develop and manage customized treatment regimens including chemotherapy, immunotherapy, and supportive care.
  • Communicate with patients and family members regarding diagnoses, testing, and treatment options.
  • Perform specialty‑specific procedures as needed.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members.
  • Provide patient care a minimum of 8 half‑days with an expected volume of 10–12 patients per half‑day.
  • Participate in training and mentoring of medical students, residents, and fellows.
Required Qualifications
  • MD/DO or equivalent.
  • Ability to obtain a Texas Medical License.
  • Completion of USMLE Step 3.
  • Board‑eligible in Hematology or in the process of completing an ACGME‑accredited Hematology Fellowship, or board‑eligible in Oncology or in the process of completing an ACGME‑accredited Oncology Fellowship.
