Primary Function:
Provide support in design, development, and evaluation of educational programs and systems, focusing on enhancing learning experiences through systematic processes, providing support to instructional technologists and designers in the development and support of online courses and specialized educational programs.

Major Duties:

Instructional engineering encompasses the entire cycle of a learning system, which includes the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of educational programs. It is closely related to instructional design but emphasizes a more systemic and engineering-like approach to creating effective learning experiences.

* Analyze Learning Needs:
Assist Instructional Technology department in identifying the specific learning problems and contexts to tailor educational solutions effectively.

* Design Learning Systems:
Assist Instructional Technology in creating structured educational programs that align with learning objectives and cater to the needs of the largest audience.

* Develop Educational Materials:
Assist in producing instructional content, materials, and resources that facilitate learning in conjunction with Instructional Technology.

* Evaluate Effectiveness:
Assist in assessing the impact of educational programs and make necessary adjustments to improve outcomes.

* Implements logistical, instructional, and pedagogical policies for the creation and delivery of online courses utilizing digital tools (multimedia recording, third-party applications, and LMS tools)

* Meets with Instructional Technology department members and other academic areas to ensure timely completion and delivery of instructional technology projects, including communication, documentation, and effective collaboration.

* Assist in maintaining, analyzing, and delivering compliance reports and data.

* Assists in the development and implementation of curriculum guides for courses and/or program components and learning resources in a variety of formats including print, graphics, audio, video, and animation technologies; assisting in development of educational support knowledge base.

* Provide instructional events support and scheduling.

* Collaborate with support, triage support, and workflow in conjunction with Chap Desk and related departments

* Provides professional and technical support and training to faculty staff, and students.

* Collaborate and liaise with faculty, external systems support, and Instructional Technology members in the management and training of the management of systems integrated with the LMS or in the development of course. i.e., eLearning platforms, integrated LTI's, and additional programs.

* Collaborate with faculty on optimal design of curriculum, instruction, and effective use of multimedia from course inception to completion, under guidance of Instructional Technology.

* Assists faculty in developing and revising courses to meet compliance and accessibility standards under the guidance of Instructional Technology.

* Collaborate with faculty, facilitating clear objectives and effective digital practices in courses.

* Collaborate with faculty, staff, students, and Instructional Technology to share insights and results from educational inquiries and instructional practices.

* Assist the Director of Instructional Technology and Academic Technology Officer in shaping effective educational experiences by applying systemic approaches to instructional design and technology and fostering collaboration among educators.

* Other duties as assigned by the Director of Instructional Technology or Academic Technology Officer.

Job Requirements:

* Knowledge of the general principles and practices of higher education

* Knowledge of the general principles and practices of technology, compliance, and accessibility

* Knowledge of the principles, standards, requirements, and best practices of accrediting bodies

* Knowledge of instructional design and adult learning theories

* Knowledge of the general principles and practices of guiding and interacting with people

* Skills in designing and developing blended, synchronous, and asynchronous learning

* Skill in utilizing appropriate electronic and other technological applications

* Skill in decision-making, problem-solving, and establishing priorities

* Skill in establishing and maintaining effective work relationships

* Skill in time management, work-flow processes, and allocation

* Skill in conducting training sessions for large and small groups of faculty, staff, and students

Education and Experience:

* Master's degree in an educational or educational technology related field: instructional design, educational technology, instructional technology, or related field preferred
