Special Educational Instructional Coach. Wage/Hour Status:

Reports to:
Coordinator, Special Education. Pay Grade: AP 3. Dept./School:
Central Office/Special Education. Date: 2/5/19. Primary
Purpose:
Provide instructional and curriculum support to teachers in the areas of resource and inclusion. Initiate, implement and monitor curriculum utilized in K-12th grade resource classrooms. Collaborate with campus/district staff and outside personnel to improve students' academic success in all content areas on all elementary and secondary campuses.
- Education/Certification:
Bachelor s Degree;
Master s degree preferred - Texas Teacher Certification (SPED)
- Knowledge of language arts and reading curriculum and instruction
- Ability to organize, coordinate, and facilitate campus language arts and reading programs
- Ability to interpret data
- Ability to provide ongoing, targeted professional development to language arts and reading teachers
- Ability to provide ongoing, targeted professional development to all content teachers on inclusion
- Ability to provide ongoing, targeted professional development to all paraprofessionals working with students of special needs
- Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills
- Three years experience as a classroom teacher; reading and/or language arts teacher preferred; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.
- Implement procedures to identify and monitor achievement and progress of students in language arts and reading resource/fundamental classrooms.
- Improve language arts and reading instruction in resource/fundamental classrooms through strong curriculum implementation.
- Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the Special Education program and implement changes based on the findings.
- Provide resources and materials to aid teachers in accomplishing student achievement and progress goals.
- Provide teachers with resources and materials to aid in incorporating best practices in the curriculum and instructional practices.
- Provide targeted intervention support for teachers.
- Provide ongoing professional development for teachers in the areas of special education and language arts and reading.
- Conduct action research to identify problems, propose solutions, establish action research design procedures, and evaluate research outcomes to inform teacher practices.
- Monitor assessment data and interpret this information for instructional purposes.
- Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and the local board policy.
- Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district.
- Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility.
- Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning.
- Share in the development and implementation of district success plans.
- Actively participate in ongoing development to improve work quality and district contribution.
- Model integrity, work ethic, and professionalism as a suitable example for LISD students.
