Job Goal
Campus Instructional Coaches collaborate with educators on their designated campuses to deliver instructional support, lead data-driven instructional initiatives, disseminate curricular information and practices, design and facilitate professional learning, and provide interventions to students throughout the academic year. They primarily engage with teachers by conducting regular data meetings and coaching cycles in accordance with Harmony-endorsed instructional coaching models. Furthermore, they assist campus leaders in the implementation and monitoring of various academic programs, including mentorship, instructional rounds, professional learning communities (PLCs), micro-credentials, Student Learning Objectives (SLOs), and the Arc of the Year.
The objective of this position is to furnish comprehensive support for all educators to ensure their instructional success and foster their professional development, thereby positively influencing student achievement. Campus Instructional Coaches may be assigned to collaborate with any teacher groups based on campus requirements and the principal's discretion.
Required:
- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
- Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in the subject area (i.e., Math, ELA, or PK-2)
Preferred:
- Master’s degree
- Possession of a valid professional teaching certificate
- Achievement of a “Proficient” rating in the teacher evaluation system for two consecutive years (equivalent to 3.0 out of 4.0 in H-TESS)
- Minimum of 2 years of combined experience in teacher leader roles (Mentor, SCL, Department Chair, PLC Leader, etc.)
- Micro-credentials earned from any Harmony Teacher Leader role cards
- Demonstration of student achievement/growth in STAAR and NWEA MAP that exceeds campus/district average, if applicable
- Professional development in the areas of classroom management, student engagement, instructional planning, and instructional coaching
- Possession of a valid Reading Specialist certification (PK-2 Literacy Coach Only)
- Understands and supports the mission, vision, and values of Harmony Public Schools.
- Models and instills a love of learning.
- Provides 15 hours of weekly interventions to students.
- Leads biweekly data meetings with teachers.
- Conducts coaching cycles with teachers.
- Utilizes video or other data collection methods to identify the current reality for teachers.
- Assists teachers in establishing SMART/PEERS goals to enhance student outcomes.
- Employs the Harmony Instructional Playbook (HIP) to assist teachers in implementing high-impact strategies.
- Models effective classroom management and instructional strategies for teachers.
- Follows up with teachers after concluding a coaching cycle to ensure the transfer of learning.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Knowledge of curriculum and instruction.
- Ability to communicate effectively in both written and oral forms with all levels of management, both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships both internal and external to the district.
- Ability to utilize effective organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
- Ability to operate computers, including software, databases used by the district, spreadsheet and word processing software, calculators, copy machines, and telephones.
- Ability to analyze data.
Physical Requirements
- Light Work: may require occasional light lifting.
- Nights and weekend activities may be occasionally required.
- Position is in a classroom setting and involves intermittent speaking, standing, walking, and writing.
- Moderate travel is required.
