To advance the purpose of Inter Varsity, this position is focused on learning and preparing for the full responsibilities of a Campus Minister. The associate will be assigned campus work based on strengths and growth areas determined by the application process. This is a 16‑month position in which the individual receives intensive training and exercises ministerial functions consistent with a campus minister.

The associate is paid a monthly salary.

A supervisory decision, with input from the Campus Ministry Associate, is made at the end of the term of service as to whether the individual is suitable for continuing employment with Inter Varsity. The Campus Ministry Associate may end employment at any time with notice given.

Major Responsibilities
  • Personal growth:
    Be a maturing disciple of Jesus Christ, practice daily spiritual disciplines, pursue spiritual relationships and involvement in a worship‑ing community, and continue learning and growth in spiritual understanding, biblical knowledge, ministry experience, and skills.
  • Ministry Training:
    Exhibit a learning posture in the context of new ministry assignments and experiences; complete all reading and campus assignments given by Area Director and Campus Trainer.
  • Ministry Leadership:
    Develop a witnessing community on campus; seek opportunities to proclaim and demonstrate the Gospel of Jesus Christ; guide chapters (or assigned segments) in the development of strategic thinking regarding campus witness; train students to share their faith on campus; encourage a prayerful lifestyle in students and faculty; model and assist students and faculty in loving God's people of every ethnicity and culture;

    invest in growth and understanding of one’s own ethnicity; help grow multi‑ethnic ministry within the Inter Varsity community; teach students to love, study, and apply Scripture; plan and lead students in discipleship cycles that encourage personal transformation and mission engagement; help students grow into leaders and leaders of leaders; work with student and faculty leadership teams; cast and embody a compelling vision for campus ministry;

    lead and guide chapter structures such as Small Groups, Large Groups, and Outreach to accomplish mission on campus; participate in the area ministry team to contribute to the team’s plans for spiritual growth and transformation.
  • Ministry Partner Development and Public Relations:
    Develop and contact a list of potential donors; execute plans to secure financial and prayer support among partners as directed by MPD coach; communicate with donors regularly; serve as a representative of Inter Varsity to ministry partners, churches, and community connections; maintain expenses within allocated budget.
  • Administration:
    Comply with Risk Management and Legal policies and procedures; follow budgeting and expense guidelines; fulfill area, regional, and national reporting requirements.
Qualifications
  • Annually affirm Inter Varsity’s Statement of Faith.
  • Bachelor’s Degree for work at 4‑year institutions;
    Associate’s Degree for work at 2‑year institutions.
  • Ministry experience in teaching spiritual and biblical principles, planning ministry programs, or spiritually discipling others.
  • Growing competence in self‑management.
  • Effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability and commitment to work in a diverse team environment.
  • Willingness to regularly travel for team meetings, student/staff retreats & conferences, and training events.
Pay Range

$38,300–$40,000 annually (full‑time, 40 hours per week). This position is funded through personal fundraising; compensation will vary based on the ability of the individual to secure donors to cover the salary and related expenses.
