Mahon Branch Manager

Summary

Supervises and administers library programs at the Mahon branch library or the inter‑library loan program.

• Select, train, evaluate, and supervise employees providing library services; establish performance standards, work priorities, goals, objectives, and schedules.
• Organize and implement library programs to meet community needs; may plan and implement workshops for library staff; evaluate the effectiveness of programs.
• Evaluate, select, and purchase materials for library collections; monitor budget expenditures for the branch.
• Answer questions from library patrons; assist in locating materials; and instruct patrons in the effective use of library equipment and resources.
• Use computer systems and microfilm to find lending locations.
• Assist paraprofessional and clerical staff in circulation as needed.
• Perform related duties as required.

Completion of a master's degree in library science with an additional two years of professional library experience or any combination of relevant education and experience which provides the following:

• Valid TX Drivers License.

• Library organization, procedures, and policies.
• Effectively provide customer service to library patrons.
• Evaluate, acquire, and properly catalog library materials.
• Develop, coordinate, and implement library programs and procedures.
• Operate computer and software.
• Supervise the work of others.

• Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
• Frequently walk and stand during a shift.
• Occasionally kneel.
• Frequently push and pull objects.
• Frequently rotate upper trunk to the right or left while sitting or standing.
• Reach above, at or below shoulder height.
• Frequently handle objects.
• Frequently crouch or stoop.
