Overview

The Jule Museum is looking for Auburn University students for the position of Student Guide to serve as tour guides, public facilitators, and peer-to-peer leaders for the museum on campus. Student Guides engage with a diverse range of campus and community audiences in thinking about art and ideas. They warmly engage the public in the galleries, research upcoming exhibitions, and work with PreK-12, community, and university audiences.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities include:

  • Preparing materials for class sessions

  • Facilitating activities

  • Supervising PreK-12 students

Guides will learn about art and art making, develop new programs and projects, andlearn more about careers in museums through hands‑on experience.

  • Support the Curatorial and Academic Affairs team with public engagements

  • Serve as a gallery guide, engaging with guests as appropriate and conducting tours

  • Research collection objects and upcoming exhibitions

  • Write interpretive material to support audience engagement

  • Prototype and prepare materials for hands‑on activities

  • Supervise students while they attend museum classes

  • Develop strengths as a public speaker, educator, and facilitator for PreK-12, college, and adult audiences
