Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center School of Nursing is dedicated to training knowledgeable, compassionate nurses and nurse practitioners to meet the critical nursing shortage in West Texas and across the nation. In this role, the Instructor/Assistant Professor supports the Traditional Undergraduate Program by delivering high‑quality instruction in didactic, clinical, laboratory, simulation lab, and online settings, while participating in curriculum planning, academic advising, and professional development. The candidate must live in the Lubbock, TX area.
Major/Essential Functions- Maintains academic standards as established by the school and the university.
- Teaches students in online, clinical, laboratory, and classroom settings at the Lubbock campus.
- Assumes responsibility for or participates in the planning and organization of courses to which assigned.
- Provides academic advising/counseling to assigned students.
- Participates in the development, implementation, and evaluation of school, program, course, and student activities.
- Plans professional development activities for self, such as continuing education, workshops, and professional meetings.
- Participates in the development of curriculum.
- Participates in program, school, and university committees and other activities associated with professional status.
- Maintains membership in and participates in professional associations by serving on local or state committees of professional organizations.
- Incorporates new knowledge and techniques in online, clinical, classroom, and laboratory teaching.
- Participates in teaching activities according to Instructor rank.
- Displays a scholarly orientation to the responsibilities of a university faculty member as defined in the Guidelines for Qualification of Faculty Appointment Rank.
- Performs other duties as required.
- Experience teaching in a higher education or clinical setting.
- Active membership in professional associations and service on local or state committees.
- Master’s of Science in Nursing from an accredited university.
- Current RN license in Texas or ability to transfer license to Texas.
- Two years of clinical experience.
Up to 25%.
