Academic Dean

Work together as part of the administrative team to prepare and revise academic program plans for the campus; promoting and serving as a model for educational achievement and practices. The dean will collaborate with campus leadership to develop and articulate strategies to achieve school wide academic and SEL goals. Maintain effective communication of the school vision/mission to the staff, students, and parents of the campus.

Education/Certification:

Bachelor's Degree Principal's Certification

Special Knowledge/

Skills:

Ability to organize and coordinate campus curriculum programs. Ability to interpret data. Ability to provide ongoing, targeted professional development to teachers. Ability to manage grant-reporting requirements. Knowledge of curriculum, instruction and assessment. Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Experience:

Three years' experience as a classroom teacher; supervisory or leadership experience preferred.

Major

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Program Management:
    Implement procedures to identify and monitor achievement of students at all grade levels on the campus. Improve instruction through curriculum differentiation. Develop and coordinate a continuing evaluation of the program and implement changes based on findings.
  • Consultation:
    Provide resources and materials to aid staff in accomplishing program goals. Provide targeted intervention support for individuals and small groups. Provide ongoing professional development for teachers. Conduct action research to identify problems, propose solutions, establish action research design procedures, and evaluate research outcomes to inform teacher practices.
  • Policy, Reports, and Laws:
    Assist with the collection, processing, and distribution of data and interpret this information for instructional purposes. Comply with policies established by federal and state law, State Board of Education rule, and local board policy. Provide on-site professional development for teachers.

General Employee Requirements:
Support and align work with the mission, vision, and beliefs of the district. Follow and support board policies in areas of related responsibility. Ensure district resources are managed effectively to maximize resources for student learning. Share in the development and implementation of district success plans. Actively participate in ongoing development to improve work quality and district contribution. Model integrity, work ethic, and professionalism as a suitable example for LISD students.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

Assist in the supervision of the school faculty as well as student supervision as needed.

Working Conditions:

Maintain emotional control under stress. Potential prolonged/irregular hours.
