Job Description Major/Essential Functions

In line with TTU’s strategic priorities to engage and empower a dynamic student body, enable innovative research and creative activities, and transform lives and communities through outreach and engaged scholarship, applicants should have experience working with a breadth of student populations at the undergraduate and/or graduate levels within individual or across the areas of teaching, research/creative activity, and service.

As a faculty member in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics you will be expected to:

  • Contribute to the teaching mission of the department.
  • Mentor graduate students.
  • Develop a record of peer-reviewed/funded research.
  • Provide service to the department, college, and university.
Faculty Qualifications
  • PhD in Mathematics or a closely related field obtained by September 1, 2027;
  • Active research program connected to computational mathematics.
  • Evidence of teaching experience in undergraduate mathematics, including serving as instructor of record, teaching assistant, grader, tutor, or similar role.
Preferred Qualifications

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Research interests that complement and offer potential for collaboration with the department's existing strengths in computational mathematics, including numerical methods for partial differential equations, numerical analysis, scientific computing, computational fluid dynamics, PDE constrained minimization, mathematics-based artificial intelligence and machine learning, scientific machine learning, physics-informed machine learning, operator learning, AI for PDEs and digital twins, and related areas.
  • Record of effective, evidence-based teaching practices that actively engage students in the learning process.
  • Record of professional service, outreach, and collaboration.
  • Previous postdoctoral position in mathematics or related area.
  • Record of external funding, including research grants, travel grants, or other forms of scholarly support.
  • Record of mentoring graduate and/or undergraduate students.
