We are seeking an experienced Lead Mechanical Start-Up Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, and startup of a brownfield gas turbine power generation project. This individual will provide technical leadership throughout mechanical installation, pre-commissioning, commissioning, startup, testing, and project turnover while partnering closely with engineering, construction, commissioning, and operations teams.

The ideal candidate has extensive experience with gas turbine installations, balance of plant (BOP) systems, and EPC power generation projects, along with a proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems during startup and commissioning.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead mechanical startup and commissioning activities for gas turbine and power generation systems.
  • Execute and oversee mechanical commissioning procedures, system testing, flushing, inspections, equipment verification, and startup activities.
  • Support the installation and mechanical completion of gas turbines, auxiliary equipment, and balance of plant (BOP) systems.
  • Coordinate with construction, engineering, electrical, instrumentation & controls (I&C), and operations teams to ensure successful system turnover.
  • Review mechanical drawings, P&IDs, specifications, OEM documentation, and commissioning procedures.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical issues during installation, startup, commissioning, and performance testing.
  • Verify equipment installation complies with project specifications, manufacturer requirements, and industry standards.
  • Develop and maintain punch lists, turnover packages, commissioning reports, and startup documentation.
  • Support Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), and performance testing as needed.
  • Promote a strong safety culture while ensuring compliance with project safety standards and procedures.
Required Qualifications
  • 10+ years of mechanical startup, commissioning, or power plant experience.
  • Hands‑on experience with gas turbine installation and startup.
  • Strong background in mechanical commissioning for power generation facilities.
  • Experience supporting brownfield, retrofit, or plant expansion projects.
  • Knowledge of combined‑cycle and/or simple‑cycle power plants.
  • Experience with Balance of Plant (BOP) systems.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot complex mechanical systems during commissioning and startup.
  • Experience with startup planning, system turnover, and project closeout documentation.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering/commissioning software.
  • Strong communication, leadership, and coordination skills.
  • A degree is not required
    ; relevant field experience is highly valued.
Preferred Background

Candidates with experience supporting EPC contractors, utility companies, or large‑scale power generation projects involving high‑voltage infrastructure are strongly encouraged to apply.
