About the job Professional Land Surveyor
We have partnered with an architectural and engineering design firm in the Lubbock, TX area to provide them with a Professional Land Surveyor. Please review the below description and let us know if you are interested.
Prioritized Must Have Skills for the Professional Land Surveyor:#1. Must have PLS License.
#2. Must have the ability to perform field measurements for boundary, topographic and as-built surveys.
#3. Must be able to set control points, boundary markers and other survey monuments under RPLS supervision.
#4. No more than 3 jobs in the last 10 years
Responsibilities of the Professional Land Surveyor:- Under limited supervision, direct survey crew and perform field measurements for boundary, topographic and as-built surveys.
- Adjust and operate surveying equipment including GNSS systems, total stations, automatic levels and electronic data collectors.
- Keep written records of field work performed.
- Make field sketches of site/boundary information.
- Perform calculations to translate surface or assumed coordinates to NAD
83 coordinates - Take photographs of pertinent site information.
- Search for boundary markers and survey monuments including original patent corners, section corners, block and lot corners, and highway right-of-way monuments
- Set control points, boundary markers and other survey monuments under RPLS supervision
- Interpret plats, maps, drawings and plans and legal descriptions for the purpose of boundary re-location and site calibration.
- Conduct topographic surveys to ascertain the locations of natural features and man-made structures both above and below the surface of the earth
- Layout grid for the purpose of creating contour map of existing surfaces
- Operate and manage computer databases, performing tasks such as storing data, making inquiries and producing reports
- Analyze field data to determine adequacy of information collected
- Maintain survey equipment and vehicles
- Attend safety meetings and receive safety training as necessary
- Direct and supervise work of subordinate members of parties
- Bachelors Degree in surveying or equivalent combined with surveying experience
- PLS/RPLS certification
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts, heavy machinery, toxic or caustic chemicals, and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate to high.
- Travel to work sites as needed.
