At Canadian Solar, we are looking for a Director of Business Development for our Power Solutions division. The role focuses on building relationships with hyperscaler and data‑center owners/operators, helping them solve power availability, quality, resilience, and scalability challenges.
Responsibilities- Map the decision‑making matrix within hyperscaler organizations and connect with stakeholders in Energy Procurement, Site Selection, and Critical Infrastructure Engineering.
- Orchestrate complex deals that may involve on‑site generation, battery storage (BESS), and power conversion, ensuring they meet strict SLAs and grid interconnection requirements.
- Participate in high‑level technical sales engagements and white‑board basic power architectures with customer engineering teams.
- Position SCADA and control systems as vital cybersecurity assets in an increasingly threatened infrastructure landscape.
- Act as a bridge between the customer’s technical roadmap and our product engineering teams, feeding market feedback into product strategy.
- 10+ years of technical sales or business development experience in the Critical Infrastructure or Energy sector.
- Deep functional knowledge of the data center power stack and experience selling or managing at least three of the following:
Power Generation (turbines, fuel cells, gensets or renewables);
Power Conversion Devices (inverters, rectifiers, transformers);
Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS);
Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) technologies; SCADA / Controls & Cybersecurity (OT security standards). - Proven track record of closing complex, multi‑million‑dollar infrastructure deals with hyperscalers or large co‑location providers.
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical or mechanical engineering (MBA a plus).
- Understanding of utility interconnection challenges, microgrid architectures, and the regulatory landscape for behind‑the‑meter power.
- Excellent interpersonal relations, strategic planning, and the ability to work independently and proactively.
- Expected travel requirement of approximately 30‑50%.
