Job Title
Lead Electrical Engineer
LocationLubbock, Texas
Compensation$113,464 annually ($54.55/hour)
Position SummaryLead the planning, design, supervision, and project management of electrical transmission and distribution projects. Oversee engineering staff, manage utility infrastructure improvements, coordinate with customers and stakeholders, and ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering standards.
Job Function- Plan, direct, and supervise transmission, distribution, street lighting, overhead, and underground electrical projects up to 230 kV.
- Perform system analyses including short circuit, load flow, voltage drop, transformer sizing, lighting, protection coordination, and NESC calculations.
- Prepare engineering plans, specifications, cost estimates, and technical reports.
- Develop specifications for materials and contracted services.
- Supervise engineering personnel and coordinate technical activities.
- Research and implement new technologies to improve system reliability, safety, and efficiency.
- Support GIS, software, and engineering applications.
- Monitor environmental compliance and assist with system restoration during emergencies.
- Develop, administer, and monitor contracts, operating budgets, and capital project budgets.
- Represent the organization with customers, engineers, architects, committees, and boards.
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a closely related field.
- Five to seven years of electrical utility engineering experience or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
- Professional Engineer (PE) registration in the State of Texas.
- Valid driver's license.
- Physical examination required.
- Strong knowledge of electrical engineering principles and electric utility design, construction, and operations.
- Leadership and supervisory experience.
- Experience with budgeting and capital project management.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, databases, CAD, and engineering software.
- Ability to interpret engineering data and use electrical testing instruments.
- Strong written, verbal, and customer communication skills.
