Position: Charge Nurse (RN)
Position Description

Employees in this classification are responsible for nursing care at a unit of the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Implements unit objectives and administrative policies. This position is under clinical supervision of the Unit Director of Nurses.

Major/Essential Functions

* Coordinate daily staff assignments based on patient needs and unit priorities, ensuring all assigned tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

* Utilize the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system to accurately document and communicate patient information, supporting informed clinical decision-making and continuity of care.

* Assist with or perform patient examinations and procedures, documenting all interventions in the EMR in a timely manner.

* Administer or assist in the administration and proper documentation of medications in accordance with established protocols.

* Develop, implement, and uphold nursing standards to ensure consistent high-quality patient care.

* Respond promptly and effectively to medical emergencies, support both patients and clinical staff.

* Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and records in compliance with regulatory and organizational requirements.

In addition to the base position compensation, we offer shift differential pay for night and weekend shifts:

Registered Nurse Shift Differential:

* Day Shift Employees:
Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.

* Night Shift Employees:

* Earn an extra $4.00 per hour for shifts worked Monday through Friday.

* Earn an extra $8.00 per hour for shifts worked on Saturday and Sunday.

Required Qualifications

* Graduate from an accredited nursing program.

* Two years of nursing experience, with at least 6 months of that experience as a Registered Nurse.

* Possession of a valid, current RN license as approved by the Texas State Board of Examiners.
