Overview
Job Description The Medical Assistant serves as an integral member of the clinic team; efficiently performs back-office duties including monitoring and managing the flow of patients, greeting and rooming patients, documenting patient histories, and preparing exam rooms.

Responsibilities- Room patients in a timely fashion to maximize provider’s time, reduce delays, and meet appointment times, while facilitating a positive patient experience.
- Escort patients to the clinic laboratory and direct them to the collection tech when a urine analysis is required.
- Escort patients to a triage room and obtain patients’ weight and height.
- Verify patient information through an Electronic Medical Record system.
- Triages patients by obtaining medication list, verifies PCP (primary care provider), verifies pharmacy and reconciles medications.
- Review patient history and enter required information in the progress note.
- Complete meaningful use marker.
- Set up patient rooms and assist physicians during consultations.
- Scribe and assist in procedures and injections under the direction of a physician.
- Conduct pill counts and destroy when instructed by physician or management.
- Create and build patient procedure/exam notes.
- Interact professionally with patients and family members; provide explanations and verbal reassurance as necessary.
- Maintain an environment that provides patients with feelings of safety and security.
- Make decisions reflecting knowledge of facts and good judgment within scope of practice.
- Practice HIPAA requirements to maintain patient confidentiality at all times.
- Maintain work area and clinic neat and clean at all times.
- Assist with stocking and cleaning throughout the clinic.
- Perform other related duties and special projects as assigned.
- Current Medical Assistant Certification/CNA/EMT or experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Current BLS/CPR
- Experience with electronic medical records and standard PC software applications required
- Basic Anatomy knowledge
- Minimal standing for long periods of time
- Completion of eight (8) hour shifts in a medical office setting
- Dress in proper business attire
- Minimal lifting up to fifty (50) pounds
- Walk long distances without assistance
- Sit for extended periods of time not to exceed five (5) hours in length
