Position Summary

The Pediatric Physician Assistant (PA) provides comprehensive healthcare services to infants, children, and adolescents under the supervision of a licensed physician. This role includes diagnosing illnesses, developing treatment plans, promoting preventive care, and supporting families in managing pediatric health conditions. The PA works in a collaborative, patient-centered environment focused on delivering high-quality pediatric care.

Key Responsibilities Clinical Care
  • Perform age-appropriate patient assessments, including medical histories and physical examinations
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic pediatric conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic tests (lab work, imaging, screenings)
  • Prescribe medications in accordance with state regulations
Preventive & Developmental Care
  • Conduct well-child visits and routine health screenings
  • Monitor growth and developmental milestones
  • Administer immunizations following recommended schedules
  • Provide anticipatory guidance on nutrition, safety, and developmental health
Family & Patient Education
  • Educate parents and caregivers on diagnosis, treatment plans, and home care
  • Offer guidance on pediatric health topics such as feeding, sleep, behavior, and illness prevention
  • Support families in managing chronic conditions (e.g., asthma, diabetes, ADHD)
Care Coordination
  • Collaborate with pediatricians, nurses, therapists, and other healthcare professionals
  • Refer patients to specialists as needed
  • Participate in care planning and follow-up management
Administrative & Documentation
  • Document patient encounters accurately and timely in the EMR system
  • Ensure compliance with clinical guidelines, regulatory standards, and safety protocols
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives
Qualifications Required
  • Master s degree from an accredited Physician Assistant program
  • Current NCCPA certification
  • Active state PA license (or eligibility to obtain)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification;
    Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) preferred
  • Knowledge of pediatric medicine, development, and preventive care
Preferred
  • 1 3 years of experience in pediatrics or family medicine
  • Experience in outpatient pediatric clinic or pediatric hospital setting
  • Familiarity with electronic medical records (EMR) systems
