The RN Pediatric Patient Navigator serves to help cancer patients navigate their journey and treatments.
Job Specific Responsibilities:
- Serves as patient advocate assisting patients with a variety of needs throughout their journey
- Collaborates with medical staff to coordinate outpatient care
- May function at times as department representative for community outreach initiatives
- Helps to identify community needs and prioritize those needs with current knowledge base of treatment and screening options within the hospital's reach
- All other assigned duties related to Oncology
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor Science, Nursing (BSN) + 4 years of nursing experience* + 2 years serving in an Oncology setting, preferably a hospital*
- CPHON preferred; required within 2 years of hire.
Required Licensures/Certifications/Registrations:
- RN, registered with the Texas State Board of Nursing or eligible compact license.
Skills and Abilities:
- Able to work independently, exercise independent judgement, and prioritize workload
- Excellent communication skills, both verbally and in writing;
Ability to communicate with empathy and influence - Great organizational skills;
Able to organize thoughts on paper, presentation, and communication
Interaction with Other Departments and Other Relationships:
- This position requires interaction with medical staff in the hospital and external entities that extend resources and care for cancer patients
Physical Capabilities:
- Visual and auditory acuity required. Occasional lifting of patients with assistance is required.
Environmental/
Working Conditions:
- This position is subject to inside environmental changes that may include constant change in temperatures. Medium risk exposure to radiation, chemicals, and blood borne pathogens
