This Data Center Technician role focuses on hardware and network diagnostics, physical repair, and on‑call support across AWS global infrastructure.
Responsibilities- Perform server rack installations, hardware break‑fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability.
- Carry out routine network, server hardware, and operating system repairs to contribute to the overall availability of AWS services.
- Serve as the primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.
- Participate in scheduled maintenance, change management activities, and on‑call duties.
- Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.
- Help interview, train, and onboard new team members.
- 2+ years of computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience, or related IT experience.
- 2+ years of computer layer 1/2 networking (troubleshooting and repair) experience.
- Flexibility to work a schedule that includes weekends, nights, and holidays.
- Knowledge of network design, protocols, and troubleshooting.
- Knowledge of Linux/Unix administration.
- Bachelor's degree in an IT‑related field (e.g., Computer Science, Network Engineering) or equivalent professional/military IT experience.
- Experience in a data center or other critical environment.
- Experience training and onboarding new team members.
- Lift and move material up to 40 pounds.
- Work in cramped and/or elevated locations.
- Bend, lift, stretch, and reach.
- Stand and walk for up to 8+ hours a day.
- Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.
- Work in an industrial environment.
- Work shifts longer than 8 hours to support 24/7 operations (covering night and day shifts).
- Ability to travel to or commute between data center locations as needed.
- Willingness to temporarily work at alternative sites during training periods or until assigned facility is operational.
- Travel frequency will vary based on business needs and operational status of assigned facility.
- Candidates must be able to travel over 50 miles or commute less than 50 miles to active data center sites as required.
The base salary range for this position is $30.00 - $54.00 USD hourly.
